Glycerine is used to add stretch and pliability to fondant. It can also be used to soften stiff fondant without causing it to be sticky. Glycerine is also great for softening gum paste.
There is no need to heat your fondant in the microwave which often gives unpredictable results. Ensure you only add a small amount at a time and work it in well until you gain the desired consistency.
