If you’re getting to the stage where you’re stacking your cakes, sooner or later you’re going to need to start using cake dowels or cake pillars (practically the same thing). Without a dowel or pillar your layers are likely to crumble and fall – and no-one likes eating cake off the floor!
This will depend on the type of cake you’re making and your intended use of the pillars. Typically we find that most people go with our plastic cake dowels as they are so easy to cut and use. If you’re using cardboard cake board in between the tiers of a stacked cake you may want to consider using our wooden cake skewers as they can be sharpened to penetrate the cardboard.
