If you look after your cookie cutters they will last for a very long time. See your cookie cutters as an investment that can be handed down to the next generation! Stainless Steel cookie cutters are much more robust and do not rust. This means that you don't need to dry them immediately and you can also wash them in the dishwasher!
Make sure that you store your cookie cutters safely so that they don't rub against each other and get scratched, i.e. don't leave them "loose" in the utensils drawer with all the other metal kitchen gadgets. Have a special container to store them.
