The 2025 Cake Decorating Trends You Need to Know About!

30 Dec 2024

What decorating trends are going to take the world by storm in 2025? Well, we have had a look into the crystal ball and come up with some predictions...

1. BOWS

We like big bows, and we cannot lie! (But also little bitty bows, and medium sized bows...) As the love of all things kitsch and nostalgic continues to grow, bows are making a come back. They can be girlie, retro and elegant, or they can be oversized and luxurious and you can't go too wrong either way. They can be made from fabric, or by using fondant.

How adorable is this little number? Girly and cute, right?!

This glorious big fondant bow is stunning.

An impressive fabric bow creates a massive statement.

2. LITTLE MESSAGES

Little cakes with a sweet message on top, either piped or popped out of alphabet moulds. If you can get a pun into the message, even better.

Look at this trio! One with letters from a mould, and two with piped messages. (And one cake with bows - did we mention these are on trend?)

Ha ha ha ha! Talk thirty to me!

Why write an age on the cake, when you can celebrate the star sign? Cancer fairy!

3. CHERRIES!

There is not much sweeter in this world than a piece of cake with a cute little red cherry perched atop a swirl of cream. It's vintage, it's kitsch, and it's going to go off in 2025! They work on round cakes, heart cakes and slab cakes, and easily finish off a design.

You can buy perfect maraschino cherries from us, did you know?

How fun is this sprinkle cake with the gorgeous cherries on top? A perfect celebration cake!

Roll the cherries in glitter or lustre dust to make them even more striking, and add a touch of glam to any celebration!

How adorable is this cherry themed dessert trio? No maraschino cherries here, but beautifully piped royal icing and buttercream ones - so CUTE!

4. LAMBETH PIPING

It's been everywhere for the past couple of years and this trend is not going to die down in 2025. With the visually stunning designs, they're perfect for the 'gram, which is really what it's all about now, right? Lambeth hearts in particular are going to be the design go-to. We think we're going to see more monochrome colour schemes than the very brightly coloured ones from the past couple of years.

How on trend is this delightful number? Lambeth piping - tick. Cherries - tick. Bows - tick.

This stunning white beauty needs no introduction.

The moodiest of Lambeth cakes. The little moulded blackberries and exquisitely piped dark green leaves really add a touch of class and difference.

Yum.

Look at that fat little buttercream frog, and the dinky toadstools. We are swooning over this one.

5. Mirror Balls

Disco is in, baby! Mini disco balls are going to be hot! They are sparkly, shiny and a little bit retro so work well with the "more is more" icing style of lambeth cakes.

More really IS more!

Pink, orange and disco balls. Love, love, love.

Pink, orange and disco balls - love. But also cherries! All on a lambeth heart. *Chef's kiss*

6. SQUIGGLY PIPING

Abstract piping is going to boom in 2025. Think squiggly lines, think free flowing. Let your creativity go wild. And use all the piping tips in your collection too ;-) For the essential squiggle, make sure you grab a 789 basketweave tip. You can thank us later!

Absolutely LOVING this dino cake!

The squiggly piping can be pared back a bit, and teamed up with some fresh florals for a funky, abstract vibe. Perfect for spring and summer.

Squiggles on a slab cake? Yes please! Bonus trend points for the cherries, of course.

7. REALLY, REALLY BIG SINGLE TIER CAKES

Look out for these cakes at 2025 weddings. Couples are choosing BIG, flat, wide, simply decorated cakes over multi tiered affairs. Look up "Italian Wedding Cake" and you'll see what we're talking about.

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi's wedding cake was a massive millefoglie (also known as millefeuille) cake that looks very delicious indeed!

We say "yes please!" to this cake!

Drooling!

8. REALLY, REALLY LONG CAKES

Introducing the "Centrepiece Cake". Sticking with the really big cake theme; narrow sheet cakes that run the length of the table are gaining in popularity. Simply decorated with buttercream, fruit and flowers, they look like a lush floral centrepiece, but one you can eat, which we think is WAY better!

We'd just start at one end of this 1.5m long cake and get to the other as quick as we can!

This one even has squiggly piping. It's perfect *wipes away a tear*

Soooooooo pretty!!!!!!
