What You Will Need:
1x Bake At Home Kit - Christmas Cookies
1x Bakels Multi Cookie Mix OR your favourite cookie mix/recipe
Baking Trays
Baking Paper
Cornflour/icing sugar
Stand mixer or hand mixer
Water
Making The Cookies:
- Mix the cookie ingredients as per the instructions on the packet of desired cookie mix or create your dough from scratch per your favourite recipe
- Prepare a baking tray or 2 depending on desired amount of cookies.
- Roll out your dough and use the cookie cutters provided in the kit to create your shapes. You can use other cutters you have at home if you wish to as well.
- Place cookies onto baking tray with baking paper.
- If using the Bakels Multi Cookie Mix, this will go into the oven at 180ºC fan forced for 12 minutes or until lightly golden. Remember all ovens are different and cooking times will vary. Ensure you are following the recipe on your cookie mix.
- Once cooked, remove from oven and place cookies onto a cooling rack to let cool completely.
Decorating The Christmas Tree Cookies:
- The fondant is quite hard to begin with however once kneaded for approx. 30 seconds, it will soften up and will be lovely to use.
- Lightly dust your work surface with cornflour/icing sugar and roll out some of the green fondant We recommend rolling this to approx. 3-4mm thick. Ensure any remaining fondant is kept wrapped up to avoid this drying out.
- Use the Christmas tree cutter to cut the fondant out. Flip the fondant over and using a clean brush, brush a small amount of water onto the back. Attach the fondant to your cookie and tidy the edges if needed.
- Use small amounts of water/edible glue if you have some to start sticking your sprinkles to your cookie. Places these anywhere your heart desires.
- You can create some tinsel to stick on by making small fondant sausages and sticking these on with water/edible glue to your cookie.
- You can also mix green and red fondant together to create a brown colour for the truck of the tree!
Decorating The Stockings:
- Use the red fondant here but you can use whatever best suits. Even mix and match colours to create stripes or spot patterns.
- Roll your chosen fondant out as you did for the Christmas Trees, cut the shapes out using the stocking cutter and stick to the cookie using the same method above.
- For the fluffy bit at the top of the stocking, simply use a small amount of white fondant and roll into a small ball and roll into a sausage. Simply stick to the top of the stocking.
- Decorate your stockings using the sprinkles as desired to achieve your look.
- We recommend washing your hands before using white fondant as the red leftover fondant can stain your hands and turn your fondant pink.
Decorating The Stars:
- You've probably got the hang of rolling out fondant and sticking it to your cookies by now.
- We think it looks nice to leave some stars plain and some covered in sprinkles, however you are the creator so go for gold!
- Try rolling some colours together to create a marbled effect.
- Go crazy, let your imagination run wild!
